From the kitchen of: Grandma Alberta Smith, modified by Linda Smith for the Instant Pot using Instant Pot Ham Bone Bean Soup Recipe by #iwashyoudry!
Ingredients:
- 1 package dried white beans (Navy or Great Northern)
- Ham bone
- 1 large sweet onion, chopped
- 4 - 5 stalks celery, finely chopped
- 1 1/2 cups chopped carrots, optional
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 4 - 6 cups chicken broth or water
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic, optional
- 1 teaspoon cumin, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste.
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper, or to taste
- 2 bay leaves, optional
Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in the instant pot.
- Set to High Pressure for 50 minutes.
- Let pressure release naturally for 30 minutes, then quick release.
- Remove ham bone and shred any meat to return to the Instant Pot.
- Discard ham bone, cartilage and bay leaves.
Note: Optional ingredients were not part of Grandma's original recipe. Poppy wouldn't let her use garlic!
