Ingredients:
- 8-10 slice bread, lightly toasted and cubed
- 1/3 cup raisins, optional
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 eggs, beaten
- dash salt
- 2 1/2 cups milk, scalded
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Prepare a 9 X 13 baking dish with butter or PAM
- Place bread cubes in the baking dish and sprinkle with raisins, if using.
- Blend sugars, cinnamon, eggs, and salt with a mixer until well combined. Slowly mix in scalded milk and vanilla.
- Pour mixture over the bread cubes. Allow bread cubes to soak up the mixture.
- Place baking dish inside a roasting pan, place in oven and then fill with about 1 inch of hot water.
- Bake for 65-70 minutes until a knife inserted halfway between edge and center comes out clean.
- Carefully remove baking dish from oven.
- Serve with vanilla sauce
- Turn off oven and remove roasting pan with water from oven once cooled.
